How do I participate?

As an art appreciator- support artists by buying a work, you can follow the #ArtChainIndia and #SupportArtChainIndia tag on instagram to see the works up for sale.

As an artist- put up a work that you are willing to sell with the caption as follows:

🔗

Title:

Medium:

Dimensions (in cm or inches):

Price (in INR):

Please DM me or send me an email at (insert your email address) if you are interested to purchase this work.

This work is part of #artchainindia

I will share work made by me priced at 10000/- INR or under. Everytime I reach 50,000/- INR I will use 10,000/- INR to buy the work of another artist under the #artchainindia hashtag and support a fellow artist.

Can I put up work in progress for this?

When you post a work and tag it with our hashtag, a buyer will immediately assume the work is available for sale. For this reason, share only completed works.

Will the Art Chain instagram page handle the sales of the work?

No, each artist will post about their own work and sell their work directly to buyers who have inquired about it. The transaction will be directly between artist and buyer.

If you are a buyer, head over to #ArtChainIndia to view the works available for sale.

Why should I put a hashtag when I post?

Make sure to tag the movement, so when a buyer is looking for artwork to buy, they can find it on the page with the hashtag #ArtChainIndia.

How do I remind someone politely to pay for a work they wanted?

Wait for 24 hours after sharing payment details, then message them and tell them the work they liked is on “hold” for them and if they can confirm that they want it and make the payment for it, otherwise you will release it to the next interested buyer.

What should I do once I sell a work?

First, write “SOLD” on the caption so that buyers looking at the hashtag page for #ArtChainIndia immediately knows what is still available. Then make sure you spend 20% of your earnings after you have mde INR 50,000 on another artist work on #ArtChainIndia.

What records do we maintain?

None, this is a democratic movement, we are only here to help you out.

Do we check if you have bought a work by a peer after selling five?

No, this movement is dependent on the generosity and honestly of our artist community.

I am not an artist, can I still buy someone’s work?

Yes, anyone can buy an artist’s work, we encourage everyone to participate as a buyer, share the information, post about it and follow the hashtag #ArtChainIndia for new updates.

How to write about editions? What if I only have one edition?

Put “unique” if there is only one edition of the work

If you are making prints or a photographer, you can choose the edition size of the work and once it sells you can say SOLD (1 print, xx available).

A buyer said they were interested in the work and hasn’t bought it yet. What should I do?

Please wait for a buyer to say that they would like to purchase your work. You are all putting up such incredible work we know that a lot of people will be interested in them. However once someone says they would like to purchase it, you can ask them for their city and postcode, speak to the courier person about how much it will cost and let the buyer know. Once they agree on the price, send them your bank details or Google pay and wait for 14 hours. The work is now on hold for this buyer for that time. If they have paid in that time, great!

If not, then please reach out to them and ask them if they will be, otherwise the work will be taken off hold and be available for the next buyer.
