Invoice
What is an Invoice?
An invoice is a document sent to a buyer that specifies the amount and cost of products or services that have been provided by a seller
Why do you need an Invoice?
An invoice serves as proof of purchase for the buyer and seller.
What information should an invoice have?
A typical invoice may contain:
- The word “Invoice”
- A unique reference-number – “Invoice Number”
- Date of the invoice
- Name and contact details of the seller
- Name and contact details of the buyer
- Description of the artwork
- Price of the artwork
- Taxes, if relevant (e.g. GST)
- Additional charges like packing and shipping
- Total amount charged mentioned in numbers with relevant currency mentioned
- Total amount charged mentioned in words
- Payment information – Bank details, etc
- GST number, if relevant
- Payment terms, if relevant
- Signature of the seller
When is an invoice made?
An invoice is made when a buyer is interested in purchasing a work. The artist/ seller makes or “raises” an invoice with all required details and sends it to the buyer in a soft copy format. Once the payment is made, the artist/ seller prints the invoice, signs it and hands it over with the Certificate of Authenticity.
